Aurélie Shapiro will be presenting at the next FAO GFOI Webinar #5: Catalyzing change through forest monitoring - Lessons from Brazil, Cameroon and Southern Africa #GFOI2020 Series Webinar #5
We will also be releasing a new Interactive Story Map on the KAZA work on the same day..stay tuned!
Why are we involved in this webinar? Because the most recent land cover change assessment in KAZA was run on FAO’s Sepal, which is a cloud-based data and processing platform they use around the world to bring methods and data to monitor forests. Felipe took the lead this year to execute the massive processing to detect annual changes in more than 40TB of data, all performed for free on Sepal which saved us over 10,000€ in cloud infrastructure costs. It also allows us to have a more automated process for repeating next year and so on. The results are visible in this GLOBIL dashboard.
